What is Fitness?
Fitness brings to mind power, and speed, strength and coordination. However, that may not be all there is to being fit. Being able to run, move, and lift is an important part of fitness, but it is also essential to be mentally and emotionally healthy. If you only have one or another, you are living only partially to your health potential. You must be physically fit as well as healthy.
There are four main areas of fitness, which comprised we call the art of fitness. These areas are Muscle Health, Cardiovascular Health, Nutrition, and Mental and Emotional Health.
Muscle Health

There are three parts to muscle health: endurance, strength, and flexibility. Endurance is the ability to perform for long periods, such as walking or biking, without fatigue. Strength is the ability to lift or move heavy objects. Flexibility is a good range of motion in your joints, tendons, and ligaments.
Cardiovascular Health

Your cardiovascular system runs your circulatory and respiratory systems, giving your body enough blood and oxygen to keep your muscles going. Without this important system, your muscles would not last long. To exercise this system, pick activities that keep your heart rate elevated for a continued length of time.
Nutrition

Your body is a machine, and just like any other machine, it needs some sort of fuel in order to function. The better and cleaner the fuel, the better that machine functions. The same is true of your body; what you feed it results in how well it runs.
Mental and Emotional Health

There have been studies done that show poor or negative mental and emotional health lead to sickness in otherwise healthy individuals. It also works the other way around, with positive and good mental and emotional health leading sick individuals to become healthy. Hygiene also plays a big part in health.
